Press Release, July 2008

Electrician-Teacher-Webmaster

"I know how difficult it is to study for a licensing exam on your own", says SD native Steve Arne, "so I have put together an intense week-end review class to help electricians study for their test. In that amount of time, we can not cover everything that you need to know, so we concentrate on things that are difficult to study yourself. We cover electrical code tables, calculations, and theory review. It is my goal to involve and motivate students, empowering them to be successful in their study."

Electrical experience, coupled with a DSU degree in Technical Education and a USD Master's degree have uniquely prepared Mr. Arne who teaches full time at Western Dakota Tech. Mr. Arne feels that his part time business fills a very important educational need of this region, and he states "I am not aware of any other electrician exam preparation class within South Dakota, or in most of our adjoining states."

When asked what the future holds, Mr. Arne states, "We are just beginning to see the birth of a new economic and social environment as the Internet begins to influence every area of our lives. I have used a web site at www.education4electricians.com to publicize my business, and it is seeing more use all the time. I recently taught an in-service class for college teachers at a private university using a web site at http://stevearne.tripod.com to help them develop web sites for their classes. That site includes instruction that will benefit anyone wishing to construct their own web site for free. Those who do not develop their "web savvy" now are in danger of being left behind in the current internet revolution."
